From a transient image of a vehicle to a blouse abandoned to the rain, the array of external objects perpetuates in its variety. External objects have not only served humans in a functional capacity while retaining Its presence deep in our consciousness. Our engagement with these objects initiates communications with our senses to form memories albeit enduring or ephemeral. We find ourselves in an information-processing, storage, and interpreting system that is far from equilibrium, which indicates a greater variety of sentiments that could be addressed in this context.

What is in question are the memories birthed from perception of these external objects. Through time, the initial memory is subject to mutation, distortion, even complete alteration, arguably, in a simultaneous fashion. While new ‘external information(consisting objects)’ is constantly being diffused into the existing memories, prompting a cascade of changes to produce an altered recollection of the original event, where the external objects were firstly captured upon our awareness.

Husserl, in his contemplation of time, characterised memory in its retention, reproduction, and protention phases. The presence of external objects functions as a signal to anchor an immediate past in one’s consciousness, also, it serves as a representation to evoke memory already formed from the immediate/distant past, with both types manifest as the immediacy of now. Moreover, as proposed in protention phase - the anticipation of rain from sighting dark clouds offers a prospect to the immediate future, eventually the future anticipated in one’s consciousness becomes the present and subsequently recedes into the past. The interplay of retention and reproduction and protention brings the immediate future to the present and then into the past. Such dynamics give rise to a temporal horizon where, a continuity forms along the past, present, and future.

In 010oa's work, there is a profound exploration and exposition of the fluidity of the memory system, shaped by the constant influx of external objects. Time is treated as a non-linear medium throughout the project, challenging the seamless continuity of the temporal horizon. 010oa revisits the established phases of memory formation - retention, reproduction, and protention - and introduces artistic ruptures that unsettle the transition from the immediate past to the anticipated future, and vice versa. These disruptions reflect the non-static nature of memory itself.

The aim of 010oa's artistic chaos is to compel viewers to confront the instability of their own memory systems and, consequently, their perceptions, a process that inexorably sculpts their identity. This artistic endeavour goes beyond merely acknowledging the role of external objects in the construction and reconstruction of memory. Instead, it poses penetrating questions about the constitution of 'self', which is both discovered and obscured, crafted and recrafted within the expansive domain of the temporal horizon. 010oa's work invites a deep contemplation of these themes, offering a unique perspective on the interplay of memory, identity, and time.
